BitWithBite ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website at bitwithbite.com.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: Name, email address, and password when you register.
• Usage data: Pages visited, lessons completed, quiz results, and time spent learning — used to personalise your experience.
• Device information: Browser type, device type, and IP address for security and analytics.
• Cookies: We use cookies and localStorage to remember your progress and preferences.

If you book or teach lessons

• Booking records: Who taught whom, the subject, the date, the length of the lesson, the price, and its status — including who confirmed the lesson happened.
• Payment records: What was paid and when. We record that a payment arrived; card and bank details are handled by the payment provider, not stored by us.
• Tutor earnings: Hours taught, the share earned, and payouts made, so both sides have an accurate record.
• No-show reports: If a student reports that a tutor did not attend, that report is recorded against the tutor's account.
• Payout details that a tutor gives us in order to be paid.

If you certify or sign

• Certificates: Your name, the course, the date and a certificate ID. A certificate is designed to be checked by others: anyone with its verification link can see those details.
• Signatures: If you sign certificates for us, we store the signature image you draw, type or upload, with your name and title. It appears on the certificates it signs, which are publicly verifiable.
• Organisation membership: If a school or employer buys you a seat, we record that your account holds one of their seats, and they can see that.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Deliver and improve our courses, tools, and platform features.
• Track your learning progress and personalise recommendations.
• Arrange lessons, take payment, and pay tutors what they are owed.
• Keep an accurate record of what was taught, confirmed and paid, so disputes can be settled fairly.
• Communicate important updates, new courses, and support responses.
• Analyse aggregate usage to improve content quality.
• Comply with legal obligations, including keeping financial records for as long as the law requires.

We do not use lesson records, payment history or no-show reports to target advertising.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with trusted service providers (hosting, analytics, email delivery) strictly for operating the platform. All third-party providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Booking a lesson necessarily shares some information with the other person, because they cannot teach you otherwise:

• Your tutor sees your name, the subject you booked, your preferred time and any message you send them. They do not see your payment details.
• You see your tutor's public profile, and the record of lessons you have had with them.
• A school or employer that bought your seat can see that you hold one of their seats. They do not see your quiz results, your lesson content, or lessons you book privately.
• Anyone with a certificate's verification link can see the name, course, date and certificate ID on it, and the names and titles of whoever signed it. That is the point of a verifiable certificate.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with our site. Google may collect anonymised data about your visit. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.

5. Advertising & Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on some pages of this website. Advertising helps keep all BitWithBite courses and tools free for everyone.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
• Third-party ad vendors and ad networks may also place cookies when serving ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS for all communications.

7. How Long We Keep Things

• Your account and learning progress: for as long as your account is open.
• Booking, payment and payout records: kept after a lesson, because they are financial records and both people may need them. We keep them for as long as the law requires, and no longer than we need to.
• Certificates: kept indefinitely unless revoked, because their whole purpose is that someone can check them years later.
• No-show reports: kept while the account is open, so a pattern can be seen rather than each report looking like a first.

8. Your Rights

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time.
• Opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link.
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Ask us to stop using your data for a particular purpose, or object to how we are using it.

Two honest limits on deletion. We cannot erase financial records we are required to keep, and we cannot un-issue a certificate that other people may already have verified — though we can revoke it, and we can remove your name from our listings. If you ask us to delete your account, we will tell you exactly what has to stay and why.

9. Children's Privacy

BitWithBite is designed for learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. Where content is directed at children, advertising on those pages is treated in accordance with applicable children's privacy regulations (including COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
